Summary: The School of Languages and Cultures inspires students to study language within the context of culture and society through dynamic and innovative research-led teaching. Sheffield has a high reputation for teaching excellence in Dutch. Our Dutch curriculum is the largest and most popular in the UK in terms of student numbers, as well as being lively and ambitious.
We are seeking to appoint a Dutch Teaching Assistant to cover mainly language teaching and assessment duties.
You will be committed to delivering high-quality teaching of Dutch, individually and in collaboration with others, and will have a proven track record in this area. You will be expected to prepare and deliver Dutch written and/or spoken/listening language classes for students at undergraduate level courses in consultation with and under supervision of the Germanic Studies Subject Director, as well as undertaking some administrative duties relating to those classes.
You will be fluent in Dutch and English, and will have (or be close to completing) a postgraduate qualification, with experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or Masters level, excellent interpersonal skills, and awareness of the challenges faced by language learners. In addition you will have extensive knowledge and understanding of Dutch culture, and be computer literate, with a willingness to engage in the use of ICT for teaching and learning.
We are committed to excellence in our teaching experience, and are seeking to appoint a colleague who can demonstrate enthusiasm and ambition, in contributing to the collective excellence of the School.
